Coaching Experience
I’ve been running for 17 years, starting in 6th grade, and have learned from both self-coaching and numerous different coaching styles at the high school, club and collegiate levels. This gave me a broad, adaptable perspective on how different athletes think, train, and respond to stress. After college, I spent four years as an ICU nurse, which strengthened my ability to support people through pressure, communicate clearly, and stay grounded when it matters most. I later completed over 120 hours of holistic health and wellness coaching, giving me a strong foundation in mindset, behavior change, and whole-person wellbeing.
I’ve also coached track and field at a local high school, contributing to multiple individual state-title performances. Alongside this, I’m a committed student of the sport, continually learning through books, podcasts, and my own training and racing to bring athletes the most current, practical, and relevant insight. My goal is to combine all of this experience to help runners grow consistently, train sustainably, and reach the next level with clarity and confidence.
About Me
I’m originally from Rochester, New York, and graduated from Nazareth University with a bachelor’s of science in nursing. I’ve lived in New York, Virginia, and now Maryland while supporting my wife through medical school and residency, and we share our home with our golden retriever, Ruby!
I spent most of my running career in middle-distance events before realizing my real strength and curiosity were in the mental side of endurance. That pull led me into ultras, fueling, mindfulness, and the deeper meaning behind the sport. My years in the ICU also brought their own lessons, as physical and psychological burnout pushed me to study holistic health and its connection to performance and wellbeing.
Ultimately, I stepped away from nursing because running and coaching is where I feel most aligned. It’s given me some of the most meaningful relationships and experiences of my life, and it continues to be the work that feels the most honest and purposeful.
In my free time I enjoy: Hiking, Swimming, climbing, walking Ruby, reading, writing, studying, watching Ted Lasso or Great British Bakeoff.
Goals/bucket list items: Adirondack 46 winter thru-hike FKT, Summit Denali, Lake Placid Full Ironman, Western States, *Full-time coach!*
Big Influences
I draw from a wide range of thinkers, coaches, and athletes. My main influences include Coach Mike Smith, Megan and David Roche, Jack Daniels, my former coaches Ross Hunkovic and Bob Goodell, Kobe Bryant, Nims Purja, David Goggins, and mindfulness and humanistic teachers like Eckhart Tolle, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Carl Rogers.
Racing History
I started racing in 7th grade when my mom encouraged me to try cross country. I was cut from the track team that year, which ended up motivating me to improve and eventually set six high school records in middle-distance events and relays (600, 4×4, 4×8, DMR).
After running casually and participating in collegiate run clubs, I returned more seriously to the sport in 2019 at Nazareth University where I had success in distances from 400m – 3,000m.
Burnout:
My training was disrupted in 2022 after overworking myself in the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Virginia. During that period, I was under-fueled, over-stressed, and eventually reached severe mental and physical burnout. In early 2025, I left ICU nursing, which opened the door to a period of meaningful self-discovery, recovery, and growth. I completed a nurse coaching program and became board-certified with the goal of helping athletes improve their health and wellbeing through reflection, inquiry, and mindfulness alongside their training.
I now focus on the 50k to 100k distances and recently completed the Grindstone 100k, which earned me my first Western States lottery ticket. That being said, I have always loved running fast so don’t be surprised if you catch me talking about racing a local 5k or half marathon!
